The CPU-30SEN-R-501 variant supports hot insertion and extraction. This is achieved through consistent use of the ABT family of bus drivers. The ABT family of bus drivers are well suited for hot insertion because of their internal construction and their so-called Power-Up 3-State circuit. Additionally, modifications to the reset logic keep the APNbus drivers in a high-impedance state during power-up and power-down. Finally, the backplane male connectors use leading GND pins (positions A2, A4, A5, A6), which is necessary for hot insertion and extraction support. Caution Hot insertion and extraction should only be done in adequate subracks with the SYS68K/CPU-30SEN-R-501 led by guide bars. This ensures that the very first pins that make contact during the insertion are the leading GND pins of the backplane connectors.

0 Isolated I 2C Maintenance Bus

 The SYS68K/CPU-30SEN-R-501 features an isolated I2 C maintenance bus. This means that even if your SYS68K/CPU-30SEN-R-501 is not powered by a -48V supply, it is still possible to access the devices on this SYS68K/CPU-30SEN-R-501 I2 C bus by use of an isolated 3.3V power supply. The following two devices are connected to the I2 C bus of this SYS68K/CPU-30SEN-R-501. 1. Serial I2 C-EEPROM (24C02) 2. Serial 8-bit I/O Expander (Phillips PCF8574) I 2 C addresses The I2 C bus addresses of the I2 C devices are pulled onboard to a logic high level and may be hardwired to a slot specific I2C address on the backplane. In this way, the access to the I2 C devices on every board on the backplane is clearly defined by the position of the board on the backplane.

Serial I 2C-EEPROM (24C02) 

This serial EEPROM (24C02: 256 bytes) is dedicated to board specific information relevant to system maintenance. For example, information such as the board type, manufacturer, board revision, hardware upgrades, installed software drivers, etc. All this information is programmed into the serial I2 C EEPROM.
