(On the CPU-30SEN-R-501 variant, Bank B is not onboard memory but a memory module extension. Here the onboard memory Bank A can be expanded by mounting a FORCE MEM-60 DRAM module of the same size as the onboard Bank A memory capacity).

The I/O controller (FC68165) is a FORCE gate array which facilitates connecting I/O devices and memory to a CPU board via a mezzanine module (i.e., the FLXibus interface).

The MB 87033/34 SCSI Controller, with its up to 4 MBytes/s data transfer rate, is installed on the CPU-30SEN-R to interface directly to SCSI hard disks, optical drives or tape streamers. All SCSIbus signals are available on the APNbus backplane connectors. For pin assignment of the APNbus connector, see the installation section of this manual. The SCSI Controller is fully supported by the installed real-time monitor debugger VMEPROM.

The Onboard FLXibus Interface Backward compatibility 

The new CPU-30SEN-R with its on-board EAGLE interface (connected via the FLXibus mezzanine I/O controller FC68165) only supports the SCSI interface. This is in contrast to the previous versions of the board, where SCSI, FDC, LAN and the user application EPROM are supported. Also different from previous versions of the CPU-30SEN-R board, the FLXibus mezzanine connector is not available. Instead the FLXibus is available on-board and connects to the SCSI interface. It is completely hardware and software compatible to the SCSI interface of the EAGLE10 module, which is plugged into the board of the previous versions of the CPU-30SEN boards.

Initialization Values

 The EAGLE design requires an I/O Controller ID-FLASH device (8-bit 28F010) connected to the FC68165. Here during power-up the CPU30SEN-R boot software detects the functionality of this on-board EAGLE interface. The boot software finds the initialization values for the SCSI interface, which is realized together with the MB 87033/34 SCSI Controller.
