Flash memories can be erased and reprogrammed electronically with a special programming algorithm. Consequently, the flash memory technology permits an easy upgrade of software. A part of the IOC IDFLASH memory area is unused. For further information, see table 57 “IOC ID-FLASH Memory Layout” on page 103. A customer may locate an application in the unused area of the IOC ID-FLASH memory device. The location of the unused area is specified by a pointer in the IOC IDFLASH. This pointer has to be updated by the customer when the IOC ID-FLASH is used for an application. For detailed information about the contents of the IOC ID-FLASH, please refer to the EAGLE Module Specification.

The IOC ID-FLASH memory device

 is installed to provide a common and standard software interface. The software interface is used to identify the EAGLE module type, initialize the installed devices, supply vendor specific information and provide software drivers for the various operating systems. This standardized software interface ensures the software compatibility between the EAGLE module and all base boards being compliant to Force Computers EAGLE Module Specification.

The MB 87033/34 SCSI Controller ANSI X 3.131- 1986 

The MB87033/34 SCSI protocol controller provides functional features that meet all facets of the SCSI specification (ANSI X 3.131-1986). The new design for the CPU-30SEN-R realizes the SCSI interface with the SCSIbus controller MB87033/34 together with on-board FLXibus interface containing the FORCE Gate Array chip FC68165 (I/O Controller). The CPU Interface of the SCSI Controller MB87033/34 is directly connected to the 8-bit Local I/O Interface of the FC68165 I/O Controller. The CPU Interface of the MB87033/34 is controlled by the chipselect signal #4 (CSDEV4) of the I/O Controller (FC68165). The CPU Interface is used to access the internal registers of the MB87033/34. SCSI parity is generated by the internal MB87033/34 parity generator when writing to the data register.
