The systems provide the following functions:

– Display and printing of fault and status messages

 – Display of curves

The operation and monitoring functions described below only apply to operation and monitoring using a monitor and keyboard.A printer records all incoming alarms and process operations in chronological order. If several printers are connected, the logging device for I&C alarms and operator input messages can be selected.

Message line

The configured messages and I&C alarms are displayed in this line (cf. alarm signalling block). The first message is displayed in the message line. If there is more than one message waiting in the alarm buffer, a blinking “M” appears. The message currently displayed disappears and the next message is displayed after the QM key (message acknowledgement) on the process communication keyboard has been pressed. Additional messages waiting in the alarm buffer can be displayed and acknowledged in the same fashion. Only the last ten alarms can be stored in the alarm buffer. This means that the first alarms will “drop out” of the alarm buffer if an eleventh occurs. The remaining nine alarms are then shifted by one location, the new alarm is stored in the tenth location. A “V” is displayed in the message line if more than 10 alarms have occured (alarm buffer over– flow).

Cycle overload

A “Z” is displayed in the cycle overload field if the execution of the configured function block exceeds the time available within one basic cycle. The processing level where is also indicated “ZZ” is displayed if overload has occured on all cyclic processing levels (cf. Chapter 2.3.7.2, section “Overload of the processing levels”) – Stop status “ST” is displayed in the cycle overload field if the system is in “on–line stop” status (”STO; input) GB.ORPA.GB232 activates processing in cycle 5 while cycles 1 to 4 are in STOP after “STO; “has been entered. This STOP mode with active ZYK5 is indicated by “5S”
