Operator Control and Monitoring via Function Blocks Two different methods of monitoring and control exist: Process control Process control means operator control and monitoring of a process using function blocks. Up to two operator stations may be connected to each AS 235 subsystem. Each stand–alone operator station consists of – monitor – a process communication keyboard (PBT) – a configuration keyboard for special purposes (Fig. 2.13)Configuration means parameterization and interconnection of function blocks as well as creating new function blocks. An alphanumeric standard keyboard is available for configuration inputs (configuration keyboard). The configuration keyboard may also be used for process control inputs; this does, however, reduce the convenience of operation compared to the PBT.
Operation and Monitoring for Process Control
Display Organization A hierarchically structured display organization with different levels is provided for process control and monitoring in the AS 235 system. All process information is output in dynamic mode in the displays in order to be able to monitor the process. It is possible to intervene with the process, e.g. in order to modify an operation value. To simplify operation, some of the input sequences are defined as function keys. Loop display (Fig.2.14) The loop display shows the current operating data of the blocks for processing and normalized representation as colored – bar graphs, – digital displays, – alphanumeric characters – symbols
Additional configurable measuring loop data
(characters, figures, symbols, bars) may also be superimposed on normalized loop displays. The variable values are normally updated every two seconds. To select a loop display, enter the block name (type, block name, e.g. R.12) via the process communication keyboard. The following process communication keyboard keys must be depressed to select the loop display for a controller 12 (R12)After a loop display has been selected, the process communication keyboard can be used to modify – modes (e.g.automatic or manual mode) – operating values (e.g. setpoint, manipulated variable) – operating states (e.g. selection of a sequencer step) Loop display and block operator input using the process communication keyboard are discussed for individual blocks in Chapter 9.
