Up to four compact extension subsystems can be connected to each of either 1 or 2 interface modules for ES 100 K (in I/O slots 1 to 4 and 6). Address 61, which is reserved for interrupt processing, has been assigned to slot 5. Each ES 100K subsystem provides 13 additional slots for I/O modules, which result in a maximum number of 108 slots for I/O modules, including the four slots 1 of the basic system. Using appropriate interface modules, the following devices can be connected to the I/O slots in addition to the ES 100K extension systems: – SIMATIC S5 peripheral modules in the SIMATIC extension unit – FM 100 TELEPERM field multiplexers to be used in hazardous environment – SIMATIC S5 central units Any combination of these peripherals is possible within the limits given by the hardware.
Two points are used by the configuring
engineer to establish the connection between the I/O modules and the process signals connected to these modules and the driver blocks in the AS central unit firmware: – Address selection via jumpers on the I/O module (if no slot addressing exists). The location addresses PLAD10/11 must additionally be assigned in the subrack (EU or 1322). – Parameterization of the associated driver block with the “module no.”which has been jumper– selected on the I/O module. For TME modules, the slot address is identical to the module address. The “channel no.” or the slot address of a TELEPERM ME I/O module may be parameterized if necessary. The slot, i.e. the location within the extension unit, is insignificant for standard I/O module addressing. Almost any slot may be selected. Permitted modules with slot addressing assume the respective slot address.
The slot addresses required
should be selected on the standard modules if a specific configuration is needed. After the location has been selected and the process signal cables connected, a permanent assignement between module and slot has been established. An interrupt from an I/O module can only be processed on I/O bus 1 in slot 61. The group interrupt module (Chap. 2.3.6.2) can thus only be used in slot 61 with I/O bus 1 in the central unit (cabinet 1 of cabinet version). The module number is automatically activated on the TELEPERM M/ME I/O modules, usually by means of slot addressing. All modules which can be operated with slot addressing should utilize this function irrespective of whether they are also provided with an explicit adjustment facility or not. Modules also exist which can be used in both modes but must only be operated in the AS 235 with slot addressing.
