The watchdog function on the I/O coupling module 6DS1 312–8.. trips when the AS is in its startup phase or without power supply. Whilst output modules can react to watchdog tripping, only the data interface or input modules is normally affected. Watchdog timer tripping occurs very seldom during operation. It signals a particular fault condition which can be caused by an absolute cycle overload > 1.2s or 2s in ZYK1 or ZYK2 (e.g. by a programmed endless loop or a hardware defect on the I/O bus). The modules 6DS1 601–8AC, 6DS1–6501–8BA or 6DS1 615–8AA are permitted as group interrupt module no. 61 (note the release version). These modules issue an interrupt to the AS despite simultaneous occurrence of watchdog tripping and common alarm. The AS is not able to acknowledge this interrupt since data transfer is no longer possible in the I/O section. Therefore, the AS cannot terminate interrupt processing and on–line processing fails.

Common alarm module (slave)

Slave modules work in the same fashion as module no. 61. (Permanent) process alarm signals pending during commissioning can therefore only initiate a common alarm if a relevant signal transition occurs via a different input. If this time interval is too long, either the associated driver must be started once again, irrespective of any entries in GB.ORPA, or a common alarm must be forced via a free input.

Selecting the “QM” key on the PBT clears the message line of the monitor.

Once this key has been pressed, further waiting messages are displayed or date and time are shown and updated cyclically. A new output in the VDU message line interrupts time display updating. Date and time are generated by the system and updated in GA.ORPA. Hogh precision time synchronization from a central point via the bus system is possible. TIMER blocks (GT) need only be specified. The timer variable is decremented in a 1–s cycle once the variable has reached a value >0. Blocks are used for RAM memory administration in the operating functions “define” and “delete”. It is not possible to achieve continuous assignment without gaps in the RAM memory when deleting, inserting or defining continuously. After loading from floppy disk, or if “RSOF” has been entered, the RAM memory will be compressed and gaps filled (re–organization).
