The operating system permits simultaneous operation of the following standard equipment: 2 process operation keyboards/configuration keyboards (input) 4 printers for logs/messages 2 monitors with image output/value updating 1 mini floppy disk unit for filing/formatting/loading 1 bus interface for transmitting status messages, transmitting and receiving plaintext; driver functions for bus communication blocks; write/read messages from OS/PR
The operating system provides blocks with central program parts in the form of subroutines (Chap. 2.3.7.4) or simulations. These functions include: – Number input conversion – Number output conversion – Computation/display of bar symbols – Device administration (allocate/de–allocate, output/input throughput) – Time output in the form of characters – Fault processing/program abortion – Root extraction – Logarithmic functions – Exponential functions – Allocation/de–allocation of variables (RAM memory administration)
Loading diskettes
A user system may be loaded any time after on–line processing has been interrupted by entering ’STO ;’. All other currently running processes are aborted when the loading procedure is started, and alarm signals and bus communication are inhibited by the system. A message is displayed at the respective operator position if several diskettes are required, and once all the diskettes have been loaded, the system starts up automatically. The system starts up in the same status as was used for filing. (Stop status = “ST” displayed on the monitor.)
Priority–Controlled Block Sequence Processing
The AS 235 programs are executed in processing levels 0 to 15. Level 0 has the highest, level 15 the lowest priority. Level processing is started either by peripheral requests/events (PU = peripheral interrupt) or by internal requests/events (IU = internal interrupt). Level processing can normally only be interrupted by starting program execution on a level of higher priority. Exceptions to this are the levels 9, 10, 12, 13 and 14, which are, in addition, enabled/disabled via time slices. The function blocks in processing levels 11 to 15 can be installed by the user. There is no system–internal function which prevents inexpedient installation of function blocks (such as an integrator block in an acyclic processing level)
