As an extension to the memory module 6DS1 837–8xx, the memory module 6DS1 844–8CA has a memory area of 1 Mbyte for the system RAM, a memory of 4 Mbyte for the user RAM and a buffered real–time clock. The memory areas from 0.5 Mbyte to 1 Mbyte for the system RAM ans from 3 Mbyte to 4 Mbyte for the user RAM are checked for longer than one hour by the system software in the event of a central reset (ZRS) and following a power supply failure. Expanded system RAM, 1 Mbyte The bootstrap program of the memory module 6DS1 844–8CA can load floppy disks with system software of 0.5 Mbyte or also 1 Mbyte. The boot disk with more than 0.5 Mbyte system software does not contain a duplicate of the software. If a read error occurs with such a disk, a duplicate disk must be used.

Expanded user RAM, 4 Mbyte 

The system software from version G01.00 onwards uses a RAM with 4 Mbyte. A net capacity of only 4000 Kbyte is available for user data, however. Fault detection in the user RAM One parity bit per byte is stored in the memory module. If a parity error occurs when data is read from the memory, the I&C alarm message S314 (data cannot be read) or 306 (NNN, command cannot be read), is raised and the currently running program aborted. In addition, the memory module records occurring errors in a separate register on the module. This register is read once per minute by a system test program (SYST.PRUE).

System Subroutines 

Chapter 5.7.2.1 contains general information regarding subroutine calls and definitions. Chapter 10.7.6 contains a summary. The subroutines which are provided by the automation system are discussed in the following Chapter. As the address pointers may be changed by the subroutine, they have to be reset using the SET and MUX instruction once subroutine call and parameter accecptance have been completed. SYSTEM blocks may not be defined by the user. Previously defined SYSTEM blocks will be deleted during start–up (AS 235 from F01.00 onwards).
