The loop display is useful if the modification of important data from the respective data set is to be supported graphically and observed on the monitor should be associated data set contain data which are modified during process operation. Data can be modified during process operation if the attribute “B” has been defined in the corresponding element instruction during the definition of the data description. The loop display is defined by the instruction “D,type,PICTURE;“ followed by BILD instructions (see Chapter 5.6). Whereas the data description (internal block number 0) and the original parameter set (internal block number 7) are always created, the others can be created as required (see Chapter 5.3.1). A program additionally includes the function and test algorithms as well as the loop display (see Chapter 5.3.2).

Data Structure 

Due to the fundamental importance of the data structure (data description and original parameter record) which is the basis of a function block and its block parts, the instruction “NEDA;“ (new data record) was created for the definition of such a data structure. NEDA frame NEDA; Codeword for selecting the framing function for processing a new data structure. END; Codeword for leaving the NEDA framing function.  Between “NEDA;“ and “END;“ the operator position is disabled for all other instructions including operator–process communication. “NEDA;“ requires keyswitch position 3 of the process communication keyboard.

Definition of the data structure 

D,type,ORPA:quantity,T=inttno; type: Type name Names not permitted in NEDA as well as special characters and symbols must not be used (see Chap. 10.7.1). quantity: Number of data elements of the new function block (all inputs, outputs and internal parameters); max. 255 parameters. T=inttno: Parameters, optional Type numbers 155 to 255 (except 192) without indication, the first free type number is used as internal type number. The data structure created corresponds to the number of data elements. The individual data elements are defined via the instruction “EL,....;” (see next page).  The number of data elements of a defined data structure cannot be increased (”quantity (new) > quantity (old)”). Therefore you should calculate a reserve if you do not yet know the final number of data elements.
