The instruction ”GM,bname;” specifies the pointer setting to the corresponding GM block for the subsequent STEP M instructions up to the next GM instruction. Error message F 502 appears (block not available) if the GM block has not been specified before the STEP M instructions are entered. Indirect (multiplex) assignment of the GM block: Pointer setting to a GM block can also be performed indirectly (multiplex function) in a VS/KS block assigned to the STEP block. The STEP block then contains the multiplex instruction ”GM,*;”. The multiplex input “GMX” of the VS/KS block must be interconnected with the required GM block.

Access to Binary Outputs on Data Records

Using logic inquiry instructions, binary outputs of function blocks can be sensed directly (UB,...; or OB,...;). Error message F 502 appears (block not available) if the block has not been specified before being mentioned directly. If an indirect (multiplexed) access to a function block output in the STEP block is required, “*” is used in the STEP M instruction in lieu of the block number. The final data record is then assigned in the VS/KS block (multiplex input DSX). It is not possible to directly assign the logic result to binary outputs of data records using STEP M instructions. The logic result must be assigned to one of the four digital outputs of the associated VS/KS block and can be interconnected from there using Q instructions.

Instruction ”GT,bname;”

specifies the pointer setting to the corresponding GT block for the subsequent STEP M instructions up to the next GT instruction. Indirect (multiplex) assignment of the GT block: Pointer setting to a GT block can also be performed indirectly (multiplex function) in a VS/KS block assigned to a STEP block. The STEP block then contains the multiplex instruction ”GT,*;”. The multiplex input “GTX” of the VS/KS block must be interconnected with the required GT block. The following example shows how the indirect pointer to a GT and GB block is used.
