Multiple use with the same data: Several VS/KS blocks are interconnected with the same STEP block in which GB/GM/GT blocks are directly addressed (not multiplexed).Multiple use with different data records: Several VS/KS blocks are interconnected with a STEP block in which GB/GM/GT blocks are indirectly addressed (multiplexed). The respective GB/GM/GT blocks are assigned in the VS/KS blocks.

A STEP block executed as a subroutine may not be executed whilst correction activities are in progress, since this would lead to a system restart and deletion of the STEP block. The current sensing and logic results display is cyclically updated during the test.

Testing STEP Blocks Testing a STEP block means

 The current states of the binary data (sensing results) and the current logic results are displayed next to the STEP M instructions and can thus be checked by the user with regard to correctness. Requirements are: – formally correct definition of the STEP block – definition, parameterization and interconnection of the VS/KS block – definition, parameterization and interconnection of the addressed data blocks – installation of the VS/KS block in the operational sequence (VS/KS block must be executed).

Notes regarding the test: 

a) It is not possible to perform a test whilst a STEP M program is being defined, since the STEP M program cannot be executed during the definition phase. b) Test and STEP M program are aborted if correction instructions for deleting, replacing or inserting STEP M instructions are entered. The error message ”VS nr * S 304” then appears in the system message line. c) The following procedure is recommended for correcting programs in online operation: – Make a copy of the test object: COPY,STEP,ANW,TEST; – Use this copy (STEP.TEST) to enter and test the required corrections
