If the same STEP M program has been assigned to multiple VS/KS blocks and installed in a cyclic level, the values will be updated in a correspondingly high frequency during the cycle specified. It is therefore not advisable, during testing, for a STEP block to be used by several VS/KS blocks simultaneously. The individual blocks should be tested individually. Multiplex operation can be resumed after the test has been completed.If a STEP M program uses GB/GM/GT data blocks, these may be displayed on the screen outside NEMO using the instructions A STEP M program which is called directly from a TML program (CALL STEP.name;) cannot be tested. This type of STEP M subroutine can only be tested if it is interconnected with a VS block which is then – installed in the execution level

Merging TML and STEP M Programs

 If the STEP M instruction set proves insufficient for a control configuration, TML programs may be added. Programs may be merged in the following ways:A TML block of the PROBLEM type is assigned to a VS block (interconnected with parameter 1 “STEU”). Certain tasks (e.g. analog operations) are solved in the PROBLEM block using TML instructions. A STEP block can then be activated by the instruction ”CALL STEP.bname;” to solve the actual control problem.A TML block of the PROBLEM type is assigned to a VS block (interconnected with parameter 1 “STEU”). Certain tasks (e.g. analog operations) are solved in the PROBLEM block using TML instructions. The TML instruction “SEQUENCE” is used to solve the actual control problem.

A STEP block is assigned to a VS block

 (interconnected with parameter 1 “STEU”). The TML instructions have been defined in the subroutine of the “PROBLEM” type and are activated by the STEP block using the instruction ”UP,PROBLEM,name;”. Multiple nesting of PROBLEM and STEP blocks is possible. Parameter transfer between these programs has been defined as follows: The current VS data record and the multiplex parameters defined there are transferred. The STEP block accepts these parameters automatically using instruction D and transfers them automatically using instruction UP. The PROBLEM block accepts or transfers the parameters in the following sequence: LA1 – current VS/KS block
