Value of a function block input/output (both data elements in the own data record and data elements in other function blocks) The block type and name as well as the element name of the input/output must be specified to control such a value. All data elements

 except constants and auxiliary cells, are allocated to a block (data record). individual blocks are grouped together to form block types. The individual data elements are addressed according to this allocation, i.e. read or written to. A complete specification thus requires the parameters. Type name of the block (type), Block name (bname) and Element name (elna). The type name and the block name may consist of up to four alphanumeric characters (without special characters!); the type name must start with a letter.

The point point before the index “elna” is mandatory. 

SET selection must previously be set in a different line. Input is rejected and an error message issued if the long notation is used and in SET selection. Block type and block name together are also known as block or data address. When a TML line is entered, the system stores the last address entered (type.bname) in an address register until a new address is entered. Only the element name (.elna) need be mentioned within a block (abbreviated notation) after the address has been preset. For improved clarity, a (block) address should be preselected using an address setting instruction ”SET typ.bname;”. After the data record address has been preset by the instruction
