The initial value of the loop must be preset with a positive integer number (greater than zero) which indicates how often the loop execution is to be repeated after the first execution. This value is not used as loop decrementer; it retains its initial value after each execution. The instructions BREAK and LOOP can be used to exit the loop body permanently, depending on a condition. The number of loop executions are unpredictable if the loop counter has not been set properly. The initial value, increment and end value of the loop counter must either be specified as analog constants, or as analog auxiliary cells which have previously been loaded accordingly, or as an arithmetic operation

Method of operation:

The previously determined number of the next step, which can be stored in any analog variable, is compared with the individual step numbers in the STEP instruction lines. The next step is executed if these numbers match, i.e. the subsequent TML lines will be executed up to the next STEP line. The program then jumps to the end of the control step instruction (END SEQUENCE). Out of a multitude of possible sub–elements (control steps) in an element, this instruction selects and executes only the sub–element whose number (positive integer) is identical with the value of the SEQUENCE variable.TML lines which are to be executed if no matching STEP can be found for the current step number. This part may be omitted and the whole step instruction skipped.

The same procedure is executed the next time

the user defines the step number beforehand and the corresponding step will be executed. If a step number without a matching STEP has been entered, one of two possible reactions may result: 1) The TML lines after the OUT instruction are executed or 2) The OUT instruction no longer applies; no further step will be executed. The step numbers after the STEP instructions need be neither without a gap nor in ascending order. The OUT branch (if there is any) must be the last branch before the END SEQUENCE instruction. The step number may be stored in any analog variable; it is not restricted to LAno
