If this standardization is ignored and the operator input via the OS has been configured, the OS interprets the data element before AT as a status word during log on and enters the required information there. The result might be an unpredictable automation subsystem reaction. The OS also expects a fixed sequence of the “surrounding” data elements for operator–accessible data elements (cf. Chapter 8.6 and the program example in the next Chapter). This sequence is required for – the output of a correct operator message in the OS – a proper incremental adjustment of analog values These elements provide the same functions for the group display representation as for the standard function blocks.

The test algorithm (CHECK) 

– converts NRPL into NRGP and enters the block in the parameterized location (NRPL) in the group display (SYSTEM.GPUP). – sets the code for acknowledgement of the blinking mark when the loop display is selected (SYSTEM.STAT). The function algorithm (PROGRAM) This point includes processing of the following functions: New status word creation, including: – code for the blinking mark in the group and area display and in the BR display line. – information superimposed on the group display (via LAYOUT) – status word transfer to blinking mark output in the AS and to the logged on devices (OS) via the bus. The last item is performed by the SYSTEM.STAT subroutine

The internal alarm hierarchy of the AS

 (loop display → group display → area display) only becomes effective if the block concerned has been entered in a group display. The status word must be specified in ORPA as internal .STAT element of data type PA. It must be the penultimate element of the block list.

Some of these bits are assigned to specific states or signals; the meaning of the remaining bits may be individually configured by the user
