Via the selected operator input channel, the device setting ”GE,7,6;” (from the external processor) can be used to select a transfer channel with standard protocol return data as operator input channel. After the device parameterization has been selected, the automation system returns a paged standard log output to the external processor as positive acknowledgement of an initiated operator input; the initiated command forms the end. The AS–specific error message is returned in the event of a failure. The external processor (VE) must always wait for the AS return data between “two operator inputs” from the VE. The standard baud rate in this case is 1200 bits/s. The GE parameterization ”GE,7,6;” must be performed via the external VE. PBT operator input channel 1 or 2 may be selected first as hardware interface.

This interface is thus a functional enhancement

 of the configuration channel; its only alternative use is as either configuration or a documentation channe The following enhancements under “GE,7,6;“ have been implemented: PBT operator input channel 1 can be used for configuration uploading from an external processor with higher baud rates. The higher baud rate is directly selected via operator input channel 2 using the configuration keyboard prior to entering ”GE,7,6;” for selection of the configuration uploading channel: – GE,24,11; → operator input channel 1 with 2400 bits/s used as configuration channel – GE,48,11; → operator input channel 1 with 4800 bits/s used as configuration channel Alternative selection is possible via the external processing unit “processor” by entering

The second parameter (13) selects

 the baud rate of the active operator input channel. The maximum baud rate (9,600 bits/s), which deactivates online mode, may only be selected for operator position 1. The system assumes “STO” mode. After operator input channel 1 has been parameterized with “GE,xx,11;” (xx > 12), data from operator position 1 is transferred with the new baud rate. This shows that this operation may only be performed via operator position 2. The “configuration uploading channel” mode must be terminated from the external processor using the instruction “GE,0,6;“. The baud rate remains as previously selected.
