Input of “GE,0,0;” suppresses the monitor output. The instruction must be entered before the individual function and canceled after execution by entering “GE,5,0;”. User structures filed on a diskette are upward compatible. This means that filed user structures from AS 230 systems can be loaded into an AS 235 system and be uploaded there. 5.10.4 Default Values The AS 235 is in normal position ”GE,5,0;” after “ZRS” has been entered. Both operator positions are set to “standard operator input channel” and a baud rate of 1200 bits/s.

Method of Operation/Communication Protocol  

Interface Communication takes place via the operator input channel interface of the process communication keyboard. An intermediate process communication keyboard is never permitted in modes using “GE,6,6;”, ”GE,7,6;” and “GE,8,6;”. “PC communication” has been enhanced by a paged log output. GE selection permits a higher baud rate of up to 9,600 bits/s. Procedure AS235 ←→ PC/PG Input is performed in the same way as for “PC communication”. The configuration interface requests the control character sequences “STX text string ETX” on the AS receiver channel. Any character received after ETX or before STX will be ignored (cf. Chapter 3.9.2.1, Communication Protocol).

Output to the external processor

 (here PC/PG) consists of output data, error messages or the control text entered. A different starting character (lower case letters) used as the first character following STX permits distinction between the individual output possibilities. A handshake procedure is used for communication. The AS 235 only acknowledges an operator input after a complete page has been output. Message frame structure Using device setting “GE,7,6;” and “GE,8,6;” the AS 235 subsystem is set to “configuration uploading” mode. From now on, form outputs are converted to PBT output, the corresponding channel initialized and the output driver parameterized and/or changed accordingly.
