A device channel instruction is used to select the configuration channel: Operator input: GE,x,6; The respective GE selection permits either configuration or documentation. The external processor (VE) transfers standard operating instructions to the AS 235 system. Selecting the baud rate The default value of the baud rate for both operator positions is 1200 bits/s. The baud rate of operator position 1 can be changed from operator position 2 as follows.Entering “GE,96,11;” sets the baud rate of operator position 1 to 9,600 bits/s. The system assumes “STO” mode after this instruction has been entered. The baud rate must be selected by manual operation via operator position 2 before operator channel 1 is used by an external processor (VE). Baud rates > 1200 bits/s are only permitted in offline operation (STO).
The following parallel activities in an AS 235 system
should be avoided when a baud rate > 1200 bits/s has been selected: – Simultaneous peripheral activities, e.g. printing – Bus load via active CS 275 – Extensive picture outputs (PICT/LAYOUT) via 2nd monitor – Operations “DI;”, “FORM;”, “AR;” via 2nd operator position during communication The external processor can also select a baud rate “GE,x,b;”. In this case, the separate GE selection of the baud rate will be transmitted with the old rate, whilst return data will be transmitted with the new baud rate (after a short pause). The external processor uses the operator instruction “GE,x,13;” for selecting baud rate “x” for the active operator position. Any valid baud rate (see above) can be inserted for “x”.
Recompilation and Documentation to AS 235
Standard operation instructions are used for documentation by means of a printer (with appropriate GE selection) and machine code filing on AS 235 diskettes. Documentation via the AS 235 printer including recompilation and documentation can also be controlled via the PC link. Basic function of the recompilation and documentation interface in AS 235 Acknowledgement does not take place. A direct selection from the external processor is not allowed. Error messages The standard error messages are used here. They are transferred to the external processor, according to the monitor output as discussed for PC link
