The bus configuring function makes it possible to configure, operate, load and file a target AS 230/235 system connected to the bus from a different AS 235 system. The configuring AS (which is used for operator input) responds as an operator position of the target AS (which is controlled). Although the target automation system does not require its own operating position, completely configured systems may be used. The bus configuring function is activated when the configuring AS has been logged on with the target AS. The screen is set to output of the linked image data after log on has been successfully completed. Merely the input line contains information regarding the configuring AS.

Image output of the target 

AS is performed to a memory area which is transferred every two seconds to the configuring AS and displayed there. A buffer in the configuring AS, which is toggled after the complete image has been received, accepts the image data. Thus mixed images produced during image transmission are avoided. To reduce the bus load, only characters are transferred, not attributes such as for blinking, color or reverse representation. Output is therefore only in white on a black background.

Setting GB.ORPA.273 = 1B locks the AS 235 against 

being used as a target automation system for configuration inputs via the CS 275 bus system (used during central configuration, for example). Messages bypassing the operator input channel (e.g. AKS, BKS link), operator inputs regarding coupling and decoupling (KD, KC, KL, Y initialization, etc) and OS inputs are not affected by this lock.  From software variant F, image information is transferred in compressed mode in order to reduce bus load. Automation systems participating in central configuration via the bus should have at least software variant F.The bus configuring function from AS to AS is possible between AS 230 / AS 235 (from software variants F03.02 and G01) as configuring AS on AS 230 / AS 235 (from software variants F03.02 and G01) and on AS x88/TM (target AS, from software variant M01)
