The following code bits are useful and may be sensed by the TML user: B1 Analog data only; 1 = the value is an address, i.e. it is a result of an interconnection with Q,... B2 Binary data only; 1 = the value is an alarm, i.e. changes cause the acyclic alarm level ZYK,1 to start. B3 Analog or binary data; 1 = value has been marked as disturbed/invalid, i.e. if a driver has detected a module fault. B4 Analog or binary data; 1 = value is write–protected. Only the code bit B3 (code “faulty/invalid”) as well as the code B4 (write protection set = variable cannot be written to) can be sensibly set by the TML user. No error messages or flags are generated if an attempt is made to write to a write–protected variable. The variable retains its original value. Write protection should therefore only be used carefully for test purposes. Exception: timer (see below)
The STEP M instruction ”SVT,no;
” is used to inhibit the timer (write–protect bit B4 is set); the value cannot be changed after this instruction has been given (until the next ”RT,no;” instruction is given).Character set: all alphanumeric characters. Character strings can be created either by presetting during data record definition or by parameter assignment (P,3,ABCDEF...;). BILD instructions, and not TML instructions, are used to process character strings (cf. Chapter 5.6).
Message and Diagnosis Concept
The automation system is equipped with comprehensive self–diagnosis functions for the detection and display/signalling of internal faults (see Fig. 7.1). Faults are displayed as system error messages on the process monitor (local operation) and on the cabinet lamp. In the case of central operation and monitoring system via the CS 275 bus system for display. In addition to the system error messages, certain functions and faults are directly displayed by LEDs on modules of the central unit (memory module, interface module for mini floppy disk unit, CPU module and interface module for I/O bus) or on the signalling logic module. Faults in the I/O equipment are indicated on the I/O modules, and additionally in certain cases with fault analysis on four diagnostic LEDs. If M/A control stations are connected, the alarm is repeated there.
