Enable acknowledgement by QF; System faults which have been acknowledged by QM but not yet cleared can be output again by pressing the keys Q, F and ; on the configuring keyboard (Fig. 2.11). Even if a fault occurs during each execution of a block, this fault, i.e. a specific error number from a block or a system function, is only signalled once after QF has been entered.
Only the last ten messages can be stored in a message line buffer. If additional messages occur, the first message will disappear from the message buffer and the remaining nine messages each shifted by one location. The eleventh message is entered in the free location.
AS 235 System Software
1 Fault has occurred (system fault). 2 The system fault is displayed as a system alarm in the monitor message line. 3 The system alarm is supplemented by date and time, and then printed. 4 The (system) operator recognizes the fault and is obliged to notify the system engineer (an appropriate ’document’ is available at the printer). 5 The system alarm is removed from the alarm buffer by pressing the QM key (clear alarm buffer or acknowledge message). The operator can then concentrate on process control (occurrence or further alarms possible) and wait for the system engineer to arrive. 6 Buffer overflow will occur if the system operator does not acknowledge by QM and if more than 10 alarms have been entered. Process alarms (MEL block) and system alarms overwrite existing displays in the message line. Messages on the printer are not yet lost.
The system engineer can press the QF keys
(instruction QF;) to enquire whether or not the fault is still waiting. 8 If no more faults are waiting, the operator input QF; releases all fault numbers. 9 If the system fault is still present, it is re–issued in the message line and on the printer. 10 The fault which appeared in the message line is cleared from the message buffer after QM has been entered (clear buffer). 12 The instruction QF,no; can be used to verify whether or not the fault has been eliminated. – If a fault has been eliminated, it is not displayed in the message line after QF,no; has been entered. 13 All fault numbers are released via the QF; instruction once all faults have been eliminated.
