Operator Input Message All operator input messages arriving via the bus are entered in the STRT.BEAP data record. (Local operator input messages are not entered.)All I&C alarm messages arriving via the bus are entered in the STRT.STAP data record. (Local operator input messages are not entered.)

An “operator–controllable function block” with a loop display normally features a status word which is used for notifying other devices of the current status and of sporadic events. Status word assignment and meaning of the individual bits is discussed for each block in Chapter 9.3.

Structure of Status Message Frames

An exceptional event in the process causes the AS 23x to transfer a status message frame to all bus devices which have logged on for status. The following TELEPERM M system components are able to receive status message frames from an AS 23x subsystem. A bus subsystem facilitates communication with other TELEPERM M components. The AS 23x subsystem participates in the data exchange via the N8/N–AS interface module. The N8/N–AS utilizes direct memory access (DMA) for communicating with the AS 23x subsystem. The message frames used for data exchange consist of an address and a data section. The address section contains the bus and device number of the receiver and a combination of block number and name. The message–related combination points to the different receiving areas in the AS 23x.

The following elements are distinguished in data exchange

– Operator input/initialization message frames – Status message frames – Parameter accesses – Alarm message frames – Time message frames Message frames can be generated in all online and processing levels and transferred to the N8/N–AS interface module. The incoming message frame is processed on processing level 7 (PU7). Exceptions are the operator input message frames of the processing levels 10 and 14 (IU10/IU14) and the N8/N–AS flag interpretation on processing level 9 (IU9).
