OS Access to User Function Blocks The access of operator communication and monitoring systems (OS 525/265–3) to user function blocks (AFB) in an AS 235 system is possible via the FRANZ OS function package. Using FRANZ resources in OS permits design of new AFB–customized NORAs which can then be used in normal OS NORA dialog in the same fashion as NORA standard function blocks.
S16 string for process–related name The last block parameter must be the S16 string. Its parameter number is transferred to the OS in the W message return data.
Reading from an AS Area
The OS can read all data from an operator–controllable and non–operator–controllable standard and user function blocks except fields (GA, GB, GM, GT, FA, FSA, FB, FC). Field data must be interconnected or provided in appropriate blocks (AKS, BKS). The time value or time status is transferred, depending on the data type specified (ID or EB). The interpretation of the status word is fixed and cannot be configured in the MELD function package; this does also apply to the interpretation of the request 1) in the OS overview display. A fixed meaning must therefore be assigned to specific bits (no. 0, 1, 2, 3, 8, 10). Four bits (no. 4 to 7) are available for user–related assignments. FRANZ (and user–designed NORAs) permits configuring read access to all bits between 0 and 10.
Writing to an AS Area
Write access is possible to any standard or user function blocks according to the light pen input. A precedent CHECK block in the AS 235 subsystem is activated. Write access to data fields is not possible. A write access which has been rejected by the CHECK block and caused flags, is not accepted as an operator input and not logged. Parameters with the character “*” in the second name position are not permitted for AS or OS operation. The character “$” inhibits AS operation only, leaving OS operation possible. The following data structure is mandatory for user block structure definition if the last parameter (AT) of the data record is an S16 string.
