The IHRC frequency and band-gap reference voltage may be different chip by chip due to manufacturing variation, PMC234/PMS234 provide both the IHRC frequency calibration and band-gap calibration to eliminate this variation, and this function can be selected when compiling user’s program and the command will be inserted into user’s program automatically.

Options for IHRC Frequency Calibration Usually

ADJUST_IC will be the first command after boot up, in order to set the target operating frequency whenever starting the system. The program code for IHRC frequency calibration is executed only one time that occurs in writing the codes into OTP memory; after then, it will not be executed again. If the different option for IHRC calibration is chosen, the system status is also different after boot.

External Crystal Oscillator

 If crystal oscillator is used, a crystal or resonator is required between X1 and X2. Fig. 8 shows the hardware connection under this application; the range of operating frequency of crystal oscillator can be from 32 KHz to 4MHz, depending on the crystal placed on; higher frequency oscillator than 4MHz is NOT supported.Besides crystal, external capacitor and options of PMC234/PMS234 should be fine tuned in eoscr (0x0b) register to have good sinusoidal waveform.
