Overvoltage protection, adjustable from the front panel, is standard on all ESS models. This circuit will soft discharge the power supply output to protect the load when the output voltage reaches the OVP set value. The adjustment is from 0% to 105% of Full Vout. This protection is effective regardless of the cause of the overvoltage. Events which will trigger the OVP include, but are not limited to the OVP knob being turned inadvertently, broken remote sense lead, voltage applied from external source, and servo failure in the power supply.

The input voltage for the ESS is determined by the option number.

The Power Supply must be properly connected to an approved AC distribution box with the correctly rated over current protection. Input voltages above 230VAC should be supplied from a grounded neutral Wye connected AC power source. For nominal input voltages of 380 Vac and higher, a Wye connection of the input is required in order to provide a neutral connection. Refer to the following diagram below. Lambda-EMI provides two auto transformers (28-004- 890-2 set type or 28-004-952-1 set type) for delta to Wye conversion.
