- In 1979-1979 there are strong indications that new gelfltartion media from the Japanese company Toyo Soda will enable the use of HPLC. This will dramatically shorten analysis time and increase separation efficiency. The LKB management is deeply worried because of the anticipated impact this will ahev on the sames revenues of the existing chromatography product line 

- LKB decide to include HPLC-techniques 

equipment in its product range. Because of the urgency it is also decided to inititially base the product range on OEM-products. An OEM-agreement is formed with Toys Soda about LKB as the sole distributor of the TSK (=toys Soda) protein HPLC media. Simultaneously the German manufacturer Knauer is chosen as LKB´s OEM-supplier of HPLC-equipment. The expected profitability is too low in order to be accepted in the long run and a vast development work is initiated in order to get own products
