ABB HESG216881/B Differential expansion module

The HESG216881/B is capable of handling asynchronous protocols, synchronous byte-oriented protocols (such as IBM Bisync) and synchronous bit-oriented protocols (such as HDLC and IBM SDLC). The HESG216881/B can generate and check Character Recognition Codes (CRCs) in any synchronous mode and may be programmed to check data integrity in various modes. The VMIVME-6015 also has facilities for modem controls in each channel.

A detailed functional block diagram of the HESG216881/B is shown in Figure 2-1 on page 21. SIO data is supplied to the front panel subminiature "D" connectors and on-board signal conditioning electronics is provided to support EAI RS-232, RS-422, RS-423 and RS-485 compatible signals. Input signal conditioning options are independently jumper-selectable by the user. Two MK68564 SIO integrated circuits are provided for serial-to-parallel conversion and parallel-to-serial conversion. A Bus Interrupter Module (BIM) Ei68C153 is provided to support the interrupts generated by the SIO integrated circuits
